AI need to buy some store bought fondant but there's so many brands to choose from. I've never bought it. I've always made it at home but for this particular cake, I can't seem to hit the right colors. It seems like buying it is my only option so with that being said, what is your favorite premade fondant brand? I've heard Satin Ice is really good and the Wilton brand isn't. Any suggestions?

I read a lot of reviews and tried fondarific it has a good taste and easy to work with wil use it again.

AI would love to know opinions of this, too. I just saw that my local grocery store is carrying chocolate satin ice now.

AI love fondarific.

Asking someone's favorite is similar to asking thier favorite cake flavor or tv show or color. While I love fondarific, there are plenty members who don't. I personally detest MMF, but there are some here who love it.

Sadly this is a trial & error kinda thing. Gotta find the one that works for you.

I do think most of us agree in our dislike of Wilton.

I use Massa and Satin Ice. Now fonderific, I am just going with the old adage that if you have nothing nice to say about something, don't say anything at all. But fondant is ls such a personal thing, we all need(knead) something different out of it. ;)

lol, I have no problem at all saying that Wilton fondant stinks, not just to work with or eat, but it literally stinks. If that saves someone the headache of wasting their time and money on it, then yay :P

 

I use massa, and will only use satin ice if I'm making a kosher cake.

Fondarific would probably be my next choice if I couldn't get massa, great workability and tastes better than most all the others. I prefer my fondant with as little sweetness as possible though, (which is why I hate MMF.)

ASatin ice stinks too. I don't get how people will say it tastes good. I prefer fondariffic, but I mix it with 50/50 with either MMF or MFF, to cut costs. I am frugal to the bone. Some may even say cheap ;-)

Yeah, it does, but it's kosher and I'm too lazy to make it from scratch :P

AYeah, sometimes you have to do what you have to do to meet dietary restrictions due to allergies or religion or diets, but as a choice, I would never eat it. I used the 1 of the 2 buckets I accidentally bought to cover a board, and I am. Using more of it to make the parts to a cake this week, because I know it will dry hard as a rock. Yum.

AI've tried satin ice (which I like) and fonderific (which I also like). The chocolate fonderific wad dry and extremely hard to work with. Ive evdn tried yhe buttercrean flavored of both brands. Ud prefer the satin ice only because its always fresher when I get it.

AI personally love fondarific. It's a breeze to work with and covers cake beautifully. And it actually tastes good! I use crappy Wilton to cover boards and make figures because it becomes a rock ;-)
