I have been trying online to find a UK recipe for glucose syrup (not corn syrup) but am having terrible trouble getting some straightforward information. I would really appreciate it if someone could give me a recipe, preferably in grams measurement. Many thanks
Hi Tess, I'm not sure it's that easy to make glucose syrup and maybe that's why it's hard to find a home-made recipe. I think it has to go through some specific manufacturing process (but I'm open to correction on this!). I buy large tubs of it from cake decorating shops like Design-A-Cake/Squires, etc. Sorry I can't be of more help!
Thanks for that, I did wonder why it is so difficult to find a recipe. I want to make my own modelling chocolate and all the recipes call for glucose syrup. I'll check the suppliers you mention.
you can use corn syrup instead of glucose syrup, just use a touch less. i've never seen a recipe for glucose syrup, but like CakeGeekUK, i've always purchased in buckets.
You can buy tubes of glucose syrup from Tesco, in the baking section. I've used it for modelling chocolate and it's worked fine.
Honey or golden syrup? That's interesting, thank you for that and the other responses. I have now bought a 1KG tub but will certainly try the other options. Looking forward to trying my hand and making my own.
AYou can get corn syrup in the UK if you wanted to use a recipe that called for it? I'm based in the UK and I buy Karo corn syrup from amazon UK. They also sell it in some of the large Tesco extra stores, they have a 'specialist' US foods section.

Thank you everyone, I have learned more coming on here than all my web searching, so much appreciated. I'm just waiting on delivery of my glucose syrup and getting on with making my own modelling chocolate as buying the good quality stuff is working out quite expensive.
