AHi I need to make a topsy turvy cake for roald Dahl day which is on 13 September. I'm struggling to come up with ideas for the various characters to use on the cake. Has anyone done such a cake before and would you be willing to share pictures/inspiration. ?? Thanks!!

AThanks for that. The best one I think is the cake doc one as its absolutely gorgeous but its not topsy turvy. I will have to improvise. Im not naturally creative so I tend to rely on pictures and ideas!! I have only made one topsy turvy cake before which was a dr seuss. Googling ideas for that was wonderful as there are soooo many dr seuss topsy turvy cakes out there. I think roald Dahl is just not quite as popular.

I love the Roald Dahl cakes that look like stacks of books. Could you make a topsy turvy stack of books? And how are you at sculpting? You could make a Fantastic Mr Fox, The Twits, a BFG? Or you could make the whole thing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired. Or maybe a the peach and characters from James and the Giant Peach! Have fun with it :)

AThanks yes I will def have fun! I also love the stacks of books but I'm no good at sculpting and I have the topsy turvy pans ( birthday present!) so I want to use them. The cake is for celebrating roald day at my sons school so I thought getting as many of the characters from the different books onto the cake would be good. Perhaps I can also do some little 3d books with the different titles on. Matilda def for on top in thoughtful mode. Bfg will be a challenge. I'm still surprised how few roald Dahl cakes are out there!!
