Hello Fellow CC'ers... does anyone know if gumpaste mixed with water to make a glue work as well as royal icing for sticking decorations onto a fondant cake?  I don't want to make an entire batch of royal icing just to stick on a few items onto my cake.  Any comments/suggestions?

I use this recipe for edible glue.   Keep it in a little sealed container in the frig...pull it out as needed.

For a quick, strong glue i have been making up some royal icing (water/icing sugar mix) and adding a little CMC.

Yes, gumpaste in water makes a very good glue.  When working with gumpaste I always keep a small container of water near by and if I come across any hard edges I pull them off and throw them in the water.  It doesn't take much gumpaste to make the glue and it can be stored for a long time with no problem.
