Hey Everyone!


Since im new at cake carving, ive only made red velvet cake but that was super moist and im not sure if thats good for carving (btw its this recepie:


I want to make this panda cake -- for a birthday party (only one panda though) preferably from red velvet cake. Since im gonna need to do some carving I wanted to ask you guys if you know any good red velvet recepies for carving? Or any other cakes that are delicious and good for carving? Any other suggestions? 

(I know there are other forums about this but since i dont need to carve a lot i made a new forum about it.)

I think whatever recipe you're using will be fine.  The cake is basically lying down and nothing is being supported by a structure.  I've used super soft cakes in some of my carved cakes and as long as I carved them COLD, they stayed in their shape.  I carve them cold and put SMBC on them cold.  Then I refrigerate the cake for about 15 mins before putting the fondant on.

AMy chocolate cake is super moist and I just made a mustache out of it and it was fine. I didn't carve mine cold, but that is a great tip that knlcox gave!
