Big 20-50 Gallon Container Of Ingredients. Question!

Before i purchase this bin i'm wondering if mix my box mix, flour, sugar, salt into a big 20-50 gallon bin when i scoop out the amount needed will the recipe come together? Hoping that made since.


20-50 gallon bin, scoops out 5 cups for my base dry ingredients adds eggs milk butter and so on..

Never really done it that way. I have pre-made the mix and put it in plastic bags to use later but never multiple recipes in one big tub. I would think that as long as you know how much one recipe makes, it wouldn't be a problem. For example, if my single recipe of vanilla makes 4 cups of dry ingredients I would scoop 4 cups out of the tub and then mix in my wet ingredients.

AI would make one recipe and then weigh it. That is better than going by the cups. I would think that if it is really mixed well then it would be fine.

Thanks, it was just a example. I just don't want to mix 20 batches of dry ingredients then scoop it into my mixer add wet ingredients and then its a hot mess! That wouldn't be any fun, i got this idea from a local bakery i looked in the back, and they had a big bin that said cake.

AKeep in mind that a full 50 gallon container of mix will probably weigh around 400 pounds, so from a process flow perspective you'll want to make sure the container lives in an ideal location near your work area.

also consider that if you use baking soda as a leavening agent, it's only good for  roughly 3 months once opened

Also consider that it is most likely a commercial mix at your local bakery ;-)

Good idea never thought about that Jason i will keep it somewhere close. I do not use baking soda so that will not be an issue.
