ok, so I made a beautiful (if I may say so my self) hat box cake. had a strawberry filling and, decorated beautifully with fondant flowers, string of pearls and pair of white gloves coming out of top of hat box with lid on top. went to bed only to wake up with it falling down on one side. so made another one, no filling this time. thicker fondant, and dowels in middle to support decorations. and still had some smashing but not as much on one side. the side I put the gum paste flowers on. was the flowers to heavy, should I have waited to decorate until fondant sat for awhile, are my cakes too soft (betty crocker first cake, then Dunkenhines second one) to much butter cream frosting.....pls help, I have a wedding cake to do

How tall is it?

What type of boards did you use every 4" of vertical height?

How many dowels are in the bottom to support the top?  Are they all cut even?

Thicker fondant=heavier fondant=more collapse if the cake doesn't have proper support.
