Hi,

I am making a  3 tier cake of which the bottom one will be a dummy (12in), the other 2 tiers (9 & 6) will be real cake, I have 2 questions,

1 - how do I stick the 9 inch to the dummy? it will be on a cake cardboard so do I glue the the top of the fake dummy and stick the real cake on top? or will bc be enough to hold it?

2 - I will be using sps (thanks Leah S) for the first time, do I need this in the fake tier as well?

Thanks in advance, all tips and advice welcome,

Claire

You can stick the 9" cake on it's cake board to the iced dummy with royal icing. Buttercream might be a bit soft in summer weather, but it will depend on your recipe.

You don't need SPS in the dummy tier. You only need a 6" plate and 4 columns to go in the 9" tier to support the top 6" tier.

concur.  I'd run a skewer through the 9" into the dummy tier, then insert the SPS plate and leg assembly.
