Hi!

I'm new here, so not sure whether this or the other Recipe section will yield more answers.

I have been YEARNING for a Smiley Face Cookie recipe.  You know, those DELICIOUS ones they sell at bakeries? Not quite sure of the type of cookie.  Sugar/Butter is what I'm thinking, but it's not a hard cookie and not a crumbly cookie either.  The perfect blend so that when you bite into it, it feels soft, yet it holds up.  Not hard icing,(So Royal is out,) yet not buttercream, CHOCOLATEY goo for the eyes and the smile?  Like this http://www.google.com/imgres?q=smiley+face+cookies&um=1&sa=N&biw=1680&bih=925&hl=en&tbm=isch&tbnid=B6xepH-4ahBNoM:&imgrefurl=http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/sauers-bakery-carol-stream%3Fselect%3DPmzmEGntZnGWHjroBAVheQ&docid=rGRbC3MqeIH9xM&imgurl=http://s3-media3.ak.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/PmzmEGntZnGWHjroBAVheQ/l.jpg&w=367&h=400&ei=zSTBUdTVOMbl0gGhtoCwDw&zoom=1&ved=1t:3588,r:85,s:0,i:353&iact=rc&page=3&tbnh=174&tbnw=178&start=66&ndsp=37&tx=93&ty=76

( Did you just hear the Hallelujah Chorus?)

The bakery that I used to get these wonderful creations at closed thumbsdown.gif

I know, how am I surviving?

BUT, when I have tried to find a recipe online, (there are very few,) nothing looks close to the ones I used to get.

So does anybody know of a recipe/work at a bakery and sell these Yellow gems that would like to help a sistah out? icon_biggrin.gif

It will be EVER so appreciated!

There is a No Fail Sugar Cookie recipe on here. http://cakecentral.com/a/no-fail-sugar-cookies

If you don't think it is ri, maybe fondant? It looks so perfectly round. Definitely not buttercream. The smiley face looks like chocolate frosting. Never had one, so it is all just guess work really. :)

Do you live by a Buskin? they have those. I used to sell them by the dozen when I worked at Remke Market. I HATE them! WAY too sweet, made my ears ring.  I think it is a butter cookie and poured fondant, though.

BTW, Remke sells Buskin cakes and cookies, and Servatii pastries, they don't make their own cookies, in case I was confusing. :-)

Thanks! I'll take a look at that recipe.  Just wish I had the REAL thing
