I had an order for vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream, to be painted silver because the customer did not want teeth to be stained with red color. So I spray painted the tops with silver paint-2 cans of Chefmaster and the rest with Wilton spray color. The spray seemed to make the buttercream and exposed cake dry out really hard! I kept the cupcakes under wraps and out of the fridge, and the ones that were finished were placed in cardboard boxes and wrapped in plastic wrap to keep too much air from getting to them overnight. I have never had the same issue with dried out cupcakes or icing!
Customer was very disappointed! Has anybody else had problems with spray paint drying out their cakes or icing?
