Please can you help I need to secure 2 figures to the top of a fruit cake for a wedding. one has a skewer coming out of the leg but the other doesn't. In the book I used to make the figures the instructions were just to cut off the skewer where the shoe goes.

I am confused and need to get this sorted for the wedding this Saturday. Any help gratefully received

I definately would leave the skewer in so it can be pushed into the cake.

For the other one, make a small base and 'glue' it to that base w/royal icing.  Maybe put small flowers around to hide the base.  This base can be made of gumpaste or a flood of royal icing.  Then, the base w/figure can be 'glued' to the cake -( in fact thinking as I type) I would maybe put small cocktail sticks or similar in that base so they can be pushed into the cake OR just 'glue' it to the top w/royal icing.
