ACan you tell me if it is the meringue powder that gives RI the hard texture and finish?

I am not a big fan of the hard finish on cookies and was wondering if this is the ingredient that I should avoid.

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Meringue powder will make icing crust up firmer but royal icing always hardens when it dries. I don't usually add the mp to my ri when I make it. It still hardens but it isn't rock hard.

AOkay, thank you. I have tried Gemini's recipe and really like it but I was curios what effect MP has.

I have had a few cookies that had a VERY rock hard icing and my family has requested that I not make whatever icing that has that type of finish.

Thank you for you reply!
