I am making a Hunger Games cake for someone and in my head I thought it would be neat to cut a bunch of fondant leaves out of fondant that is marbled red, yellow and orange.  And then place them on the cake, kind of like fish scales, going up the cake to simulate flames.

I cannot find any pictures or examples of this.  Have any of you done it or seen it?  In theory it sounds like it would be a cool effect.

Search "Fire" OR "Flames " in this site.

AI have not done that, but I did make flames for a cake. It was a rock theme baby shower.

I cut them from mix of yellow fondant/gum paste then airbrushed with orange. Thought I would also need a bi of red, but didn't.

AOk, these aren't good pictures. Can't really see the colors.

This is better of just flames

Very nice flames, I don't have an airbrush to shade like that but that is great.  Did you free hand the shapes?

Just wanted to say I love this cake! Really love that it is so cool and different for a baby shower.

This isnt fondant but here is a cake I did for Hunger Games.  The flames on the side are red, orange, and yellow icing using the leaf tip.  I did run back over it with an airbrush gun but you wouldn't have to.  The letters were done in yellow and airbrushed red and orange but could easily be done by striping the bag.  Good Luck on your cake!  Hope to see pics when you are done!!  =-)

Sort of but not really. I googled flames & used a template for some. The others, I used a leaf cutter...I kept turning it using the tip or the reverse side to get the nice angles.

I wasn't site the airbrush would work(very new to it). My back up plan was either paint by hand. My other thought was to use large re flame in back, med orange in middle then small yellow in front.

AThank you!

Can't take all the credit for design. I used the invite for inspiration.
