AI have only used crisco in my buttercream(or butter, or a 50/50 mix). I am fairly new to decorating with anything but a 1M tip on cupcakes. I have heard of icing shortening only recently, and we have no cake supply stores in our area. Does anyone have preferences for certain brands of shortening? Do any come in easily measured sticks or blocks? I am not looking for a huge volume either, so are there any online sources for smaller than a 50lb cube? So far I found sweetex in a 1lb and alpine in a 3lb.
