AI am donating a cake to my daughter's school tomorrow for teacher appreciation day. I made red velvet cakes and want to try the crusting cream cheese recipe I saw on this site. Can I color the icing like normal or will something with the cream cheese cause any problem, running colors, bad taste, etc? I plan on doing either a green or black to replicate a chalk board. Thanks in advance for any advice! My gut tells me it will color just fine....

AI just did this last weekend. No problems at all coloring with gel colors.

Yep. I colored cream cheese icing many times in the past with liquid food coloring and had no problems. I only recently discovered gel colors, which makes life so much easier.
