I have just recently started decorating cakes again after a 20 year break and I am loving every minute of it.  I have made 7 cakes for my work collegues already and now have another 12 orders.  My problem is that I am finding it very hard to charge for them, I did originally charge £35 but found they were costing me about £20 and I was spending hours on them.

So can someone please advise me on an acceptable basic rate for different sized cakes.  I understand the decoration makes a difference but just a basic charge would be helpful.

By the way I am in the UK  :)

post #2 of 2 This guide really helped me when I was trying to decide what to charge. You really need to figure out how much it costs you to make the cake and then add on your time, effort, and delivery. I used excel to figure out how much my recipes cost me. There is a pricing matrix on here. but I found it difficult to use.
