My Granddaughter has asked me to make her an Apple shaped cake for her birthday.  However, she cannot eat flour products.  Her Mother says she can eat foods made with Rice flour.  Have you ever made a cake from Rice Flour?

ADoes she have an allergy or intolerance to wheat and/or gluten? There are many gluten-free scratch recipes and cake mixes available, rice flour is the primary ingredient.

AHi My son is gluten intolerant- I've made many cakes without (wheat) flour. Rice flour alone won't produce a decent cake- most gluten free baking works best with a blend of different (gluten free) flours and starches. There are loads of options available. One of my fave from scratch websites for lots of good recipes is glutenfreegoddess. Or if you're short for time or just intimidated I would just use a packaged mix. You can get quite a good selection online. Www.iherb.com is a good place to start.
