Hi im new to cake central so please be gentle, looking on here you are all making some fantastic cakes, for whatever event you can see you all put your heart and sole into it. Im going to be starting a train cake shortly, not a kiddie cake,they want replic,for 160 people,luckly first carriage is fruit so i can sort that in advance,but other 2 carriages are sponge, ive got so much detail to put on,if anyones got any tips on anything like this i would be forever gratefull, its looking like its going to be a meter long so i if any body has advice on how to make such a long cake looked raised id be gratefull, basically id be gratefull for any advice given.Thank you so much
I don't know the kind of "Train Cake" you are making. Is it like a New York subway, or an old fashion train?
You have to think about the parts you can make way ahead of time.
You can prepare your board and make your supports for the trains. On top of that, I'm sure there ae many parts you can make that may need to dry or harden.
I found this picture online. The creator put a lot of work into the base, but it does make the cake look real and elevated. Maybe you could give the people here a better idea on how much time and energy you will be putting into this cake. A train cake can be with little detail, or a lot of details and special touches.
Here is a picture of the train,they also want 2 carriages, 1st carriage is fruit cake others are plain sponge,its to feed 150 people, the birthday boy is a very big train fan so has to be as much detail as possible, its not till beginning of july but this is widiest cake ive ever done.
