I made a 50/50 gum paste fondant baby out of a silicone mold, looked great after I took it out. 2 days later, as I'm painting it, I'm noticing little pits have formed in a few places on the poor bitty babe. icon_sad.gif

It's for a baby shower cake on Saturday, so I have plenty of time to re-mold a new piece but am wondering..what the frack happened?

Anyone have this happen??

Be sure you have mixed your fondant/gum paste really well so there are no air bubbles in it, and really press it firmly in the mold is all I can think of.  I always make like 3 of them and then choose the best one! lol...having those little babies on the counter freaks my hubby out! lol Good luck!!

It is kind of creepy having them on the counter! icon_smile.gif

I was wondering if it might be air bubbles. Maybe I didn't notice them until I got it shaded. I made 2, the other one doesn't have any pits, but the face isn't as cute. :/

Grr..

I agree, I made 3 once and it took awhile to pick out which one I wanted to use!  Good luck!
