So I have had this wedding cake planned for months. I've done some wedding cakes before and I've never been this much of a wreck. I have the cakes made and in the freezer, which is how I usually do all of my cakes. I've had good feedback from everyone I did a cake for and this cake is actually for someone who tasted a cake I made at another wedding. But I'm so obsessed, I can't stop worrying about this one!
First of all, I did not torte the layers. I have torted some cakes before and some I didn't. The one she had before was not torted and she loved it. Now I'm second guessing that I should have torted them...
Also, I'm debating on when to frost and fondant the tiers. I work full-time but I'm off on Friday so I can get this cake done and the wedding is on Saturday.
Did I mention I'm also doing the groom's cake? It's a fish and I have to carve it. I'm not worried that I can't do it, I'm just worried that I won't think it is perfect enough. I know I could make one like the picture she sent but I want mine to look better than that.
I really someone tto talk me down about this because I am way overthinking it and I can't stop!!
First of all you need to take a deep breath so you can calm down. Â It sounds like you have it under control so far. Â How much decorating are you doing that is making you feel nervous, Â Post a pic if you have one or a sketch at best.
I would start my icings depending on what kind your making. Â You can torte when you remove from the freezer if you want to do that. Â If not don't worry, she already likes your work.
Is the cake for the grooms cake already baked?
ARelax. You are way over thinking this. Stop it. Better???
Now then...you have this fully planned out, quit inventing problems where there aren't any. Just stick with your original plan.
AYou're in cake panic mode.....it can be ugly. I've seen my husband throw a whole batch of fondant across the kitchen people.... Breath and believe in your plan and in yourself... You'll get it done. :)
Actually everything is baked and the frosting is all made. I even made most of the fondant already and I have all of the supplies for stacking. Here are the pictures of the cakes she wants something similar to...Â That fish cake looks way better thanÂ the one I made before. I want the one I make to look better than the one I made before too. She wants the wedding cake to be 5 tiers but without the feathers, just flowers and the scrolls. I'm also afraid that my tiers will not have enough size difference between them now. Originally she wanted only 4 tiers. The wedding cake I made before was the same size minus the 12-inch tier so I feel like it was more stable. I probably need to stay off of theÂ cakewrecks website until all this is over, lol. Also I'm transporting the cake 50 miles but I don't intend to stack until I get to the site.
You can do it. Just try to take a long deep breath and relax!! Everything will turn out just fine. Try not to get upset because it will stress you out too much. Just try to enjoy making a beautiful cake. Things will turn out just fine!!! Be sure and post a picture. Keep your faith!!!
You can do this. Just try to stay calm and no get too worked up. If you panic and freak out you can lose time you need or mess something up. So stay calm and focus on what you have to do. And if you need anything we are all here for help or support! You got this!Â
I looked at your pic and at the cakes you've posted. Â You most definately can do this. Â Easy for you. Â If you can stack 2 you can stack 3, 4, or even 5. Â 50 miles to transport is not all that far. Â Yes stay away from all those nutty people with stupidity stunts. Â I am not buying that they really have all those problems. Â We cakers do so much to make things come out right. Â Its our pride and joy and your talent shows thru in what you do.
Thank you guys for your confidence in me. I am really taking turns being excited and worried, lol. I think it just hit me hard that she is going to have a LOT of people at her wedding. I keep looking at the beautiful cakes here and sometimes I feel a little inadequate... I guess we all fee that way sometimes. I'm just going to take a deep breath and stop thinking about what *might* go wrong.
When I look at all the beautiful cake posted I feel that way too, but since I have no shortage of customers and they all compliment the work. (and I have my fair share of repeat customers also) then I ignore that negative feeling. Â
Put it out of your head. Â Growing up my parents used to say, 1 can eat as cheaply as 2. Â My 1st instructor taught us that building tiered cakes is just making a number of cakes and putting them together to give a different visual effect. Â You will be fine regardless of how many people attend the wedding.
Ok, here are the cakes. Everyone loved them, thank Goodness. I did have to rebake the largest tier at the last minute because it shrunk up and was too small to use. SO, I ran to the store and boughtÂ Â an even bigger pan and went to work. I got done literally just in time. Thanks for the pep talks!
AThere are beautiful how did you get that blue is the fondant colore? Or you printed?
Thank you. No the blue part is painted. The flowers are purple and blue - she gave me what she wanted me to use.
