I've been using gum-tex for years to make gumpaste. It always worked great until the new can I bought a couple of weeks ago. The gumpaste turns out terrible, it cracks awfully, no stretch, I'm hating it. I've made quite a few batches with it. I've tried using less gum-tex thinking maybe that would help, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Just wondering if I got a bad can or if others are having the same problem.

oh great-- i just bought a can -- i usually buy powdered gum paste mix or whatever

i hope it's not the same bad batch/crummy stuff-- i wouldn't know the difference because i'm experimenting with a few things

hmmm i might be having that problem but it just might be my crazy concoctions ;)

i made this one blob of stuff--it doesn't dry out icon_lol.gif i made some molded items a few days ago--i could walk over there and knead them up right now and make something else no problemo

weird brew this ;)

so i do not know but thanks for the heads up

Are you sure that you got your usual one?

Wilton Gum Tex™ contains CMC powder or sodium carboxymethyl cellulose

Wilton Gum-Tex Karaya™ contains Gum Karaya which is a vegetable gum similar to Gum Tragacanth.

The packaging is the same for both ..

I have two cans of the stuff, one is over a year old and the other is brand new, both list Karaya as the only ingredient.  The old can works well, I haven't opened the new one yet. HTH
