  I just was asked to make this zombie cake. Any ideas how to go about this? I know the article says that's it's all rice krispie treats but I need make it a cake to serve 20.TIA

I'd say leave off the arm for a 100% cake version.

 

Go for a dense cake like mudcake or poundcake and use ganache to fill (don't forget a board and dowl/straw supports every 4-6").

 

Carve away a basic shape then heavy coat in gancahe, let it set up and then you can do more detailed shaping in the ganache surface.

 

Then build up the feasures with pieces of modelling chocolate like sculpting )look at videos on youtube about making faces out of clay), that way you'll not have to wresstle with trying to flop a big sheet of fondant over the thing :-)

 

And then a killer paint job with lots of heavy over-shading and claret coloured piping gell :)

 

I so can't wait to see your cake!

Thanks for the ideas. I will check out the sculpting faces with clay on utube!
