Are These Scratch Recipes Any Good?

I found this site and was wondering if anyone has tried any of these recipes? and are they any good?

Or if anyone has any kind of opinion on them?

I'm on the hunt for some really great scratch recipes. I would Love to be  a wonderful scratch baker- I have just recently been trying to switch over to only using scratch recipes.  Its been hard but so worth it so far. I have been trying to do a lot of practicing.  My family and friends sure enjoy it when I want to practice.  We all feel our pants getting tighter too! lol

Thanks for sharing in advance.  I love all the advice. especaily from all the expert bakers out there.

I've never seen this website before.  They could be good, you would just have to try.  My personal preference is to use tried and true recipes which have reviews.  This way you can weed out the obvious duds, and for the recipes which have good reviews, you can read through them and see what people did differently.  There are a TON on CC which are awesome.  You can search for some of the scratch-off threads too.

 

I'm not knocking "chef" recipes, but just because it came from a chef doesn't mean it's good.  One of my friends got married last year, and the groom's cousin made the cake.  This person had graduated from culinary school and it was the worst looking and tasting cake I have ever seen or tasted.

I have never tried that site but I know a lot of people here recommend http://www.joyofbaking.com/. I also regularly use http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/ and don't think I've ever had a bad recipe from it.

 

If you don't already have one, I would strongly recommend getting a kitchen scales and measuring by weight - I couldn't bake without my scales!
