I love this cake and would love to know how to make these ruffles. I attempted to make a little tester cake using just fondant, but it ended up looking like a big mess. Should I have used fondant and gum paste? Do the ruffles need to dry first before attaching it to the cake? Any helpful techniques you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Those are circles folded and pinched and bent and pressed on to the cake, probably adhered with a bit of water.
Fondant should be just fine, I see no reason to have to use GP.
