Hello,

I am not a skilled cake maker, first off!

I have a friend who I adore who has been working very hard remodeling our place where we work together.  Her birthday is about four weeks away, and I was considering making her a beaver cake (as she has been busy as a beaver).  I found a few extraordinary beaver cakes by googling, but I know they are too advanced for me.  I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for doing a fairly simple beaver cake.  I am willing to learn new tricks and buy new tools and work hard on the cake...but I know I have a ceiling as far as how much I can improve.

Other ideas are possible too (busy as a bee, for example...I guess a beaver would look so cute though with the fur, and perhaps one of those long stick pretzels that I could chisel down in the middle as though the animal had been working on it).  She is also very handy with tools.  A tool kit type cake would work, but I considered doing that in the past for another handyman but I really didn't like the idea.

Here are a few previous cakes I have made for various birthdays, just to show my skill level (low skill!):
