I am making a traditional WASC cake but I am lost on what filling and buttercream flavors to use. My sister doesnt want any fruit filling and I cant do cream cream filling because of the time the cake will sit out while im working on it. I need some help being that she left the option up to me. I need something that is non perishable but not boring. Also I would like to know if I should flavor the buttercream with almond extract or ameretto liquor? What do you all think? What have you all paired with almond flavored cake?
My *original* WASC recipe can be used with ANY flavor cake. I match the filling w/the cake flavor.
You can flavor b'cream recipes in any way/flavor you want. Have you tried my "2 of everything b'cream" recipe?
It calls for 2 Tablespoon of flavoring. You can make up any combination of flavors in the 2 T. I prefer using almond extract along w/the vanilla and butter flavorings. Some people object to the use of Liquor in their icing/food. (Why I don't understand because ALL extracts contain a good portion of alcohol - what's the difference between that alcohol and liquor/booze??).
