A few years ago there was a group of members that called themselves (I think?) The Cake Club. Â They critiqued people's cakes if you asked for it. Â I want to get it started again! Â Who's with me????
In case you weren't around then, here's what it is all about:
- Upload photos of your cake in the Galleries. Â Please do not upload photos here! Â
- Make sure in the comments under the photo in the Gallery that you describe the cake, techniques used, and that you are asking for critique from the Cake Club. Â This will help us know that we have clicked on the right cake photos and also to confirm that you are asking for critique. Â
- Post in this thread to let us know you uploaded a new cake and post the hyperlink to your photoset. Â Â
Those subscribed to this Cake Club thread would then pop over to your album and give honest but encouraging feedback. Â
Anyone can offer opinion on the cake, but the goal is to help decorators (new and old) improve and build on their skills. Â If you see something that needs improvement please try to share tips on how to do something better. Â And of course, if you see something done well, let that person know!
This is not a way toÂ ask for pricing on your cake, and I ask any members participating to not answer pricing questions if asked. Â
This is also not a way to get "favorites" so you can land on the home page. Â This is only to get constructive feedback!
Your photos also have to be uploaded to the galleries HERE on Cake Central, please do not direct up to critique on your blog, Facebook or website.
If you want to sign up to be a member and are willing to critique, just post below! Â Just make sure you are subscribed to this thread and you opt for immediate notifications.
If you want feedback on your cake, lets make sure we get more then a few people to sign up to be members, Â I don't want to be the only one critiquing cakes!
ASounds like a great idea! I think I remembering seeing this around a couple years ago.
Hey FromScratch....I was on here back then.Â Â Â Â The crowd on CCÂ was much different then....not ready to start a fight as many are today.Â Â I don't think it would work now.Â Â Just my honest opinion.Â Â

Alooks like a great idea, I would love to hear constructive criticism from other bakers (I think I could very easily fall into the 'my baby is the best baby' mentality with only my husband brave enough to point out what needs improvement)
That cake is really quite flawless. Â The only criticism I have is that I would like the cake & border to be on the stand. Â I can see the board. Â I'm guessing the stand was for the photo so that's not really helpful. Â Really excellent piping skills.
I'd also love to see the top.

That's OK, learning curve! Â Also, I think in the old club they used to identify themselves as members of the club in the comments they leave. Â Probably also a good idea so others know what's going on.
