Addind a small 4 inch cake topper , Mom wants crystal rhinestones scattered on it,   Do I add them before the buttercream crusts?  ( this topper will not be eaten .. spoke to mom about the dangers of someone swallowing them )   I am going to up late finishing this tonight ,. Delivery is very early in the morning.  Please help .... need your experiences on this?   Thank you in advance

If you wait until the buttercream crusts, the rhinestones won't stick.

A tiny dot of piping gel will help too. It sort of helps keep your fingers out of the way while you apply them too. Once the gel hits the cake, let go, and press with the end of your pinky.

thank you ladies,  I was a bit nervous due to concerned if anyone in error eats one.  but did inform cake customer of dangers.    Cake turned out great , thanks for all your help
