The swirled rose looks beautiful in my opinion on a cupcake. If you use your star tip and start from the outside of the cake rounding all the way up you get a nice effect. If you like tip is big enough you can make a cute circular effect ontop starting on the outside of the cake and working in.With a line tip you can set your tip right in the middle of the cake and do a flooding kind of method that would look like 3 rings of icing. Playing with tips is so much fun.I learned so much just by watching you tube. punch in star tip methods and you will get so many and line tip too. Have fun with it !!!

You can draw an outline with  the round tip such as flowers and fill it in with the star tip.  You can also do flowers with round tip by doing 5 shells in a circle and using the round tip for the stamen in middle of flower.

Once you start I am sure you will do fine!! Post a picture. Hopefully others will have more ideas.  You could also do scrolls with the round tips.
