I've got my first purse/bag cake to make tomorrow and the young girl i'm making it for loves pink, but she wants a bright pink, like Hot Pink!  I've got all the Sugarflair colours, but it only has Pink and Dusky Pink.   Is there anyway I can achieve Hot Pink out of the colours i have??  If not it's just gonna have to be Pink lol

AThe Sugarflair pink will give a deep pink but it's really not a hot pink. Do you have a Hobbycraft near you? If so, you could pick up some Wilton Rose which gives a better shade of hot pink.

If not, colour a little piece of sugarpaste with the Sugarflair pink and you'll see the shade you can make. The dusky pink will really NOT make a hot pink.

ATypical of my luck they didn't have any Wilton rose on shelves! Thanks for all your advice tho, I will be getting some of that still but for now I've used the sugarflair pink and thankfully it has turned out as a nice pink, obviously not the pink I really wanted but still quite bright! Phew! Haha.

I have a pack of Duff colour gels that includes Electric Pink, which would have probably given you what you want.  I bought them at Michaels, however I'm not sure how readily available they are at other stores.  But...worth looking for if you find yourself in this bind in the future.

We don't have that brand in the UK.

Also, the Wilton pink you get in the UK is different to the Wilton pink manufactured in the US (European rules about permitted colours).

AHi, don't know if I'm too late but this weekend I was reading a post by GateauxIncCakes and royal bakery on my Facebook. They had the same dilemma about hot pink on royal icing and fondant. They did a lot of experimenting and came up with the perfect hot pink. She used candy colors for fondant and airbrush colors for royal icing.

Really? Probably just a 7. I was in a rush because the lady showed up 3 hours early, before I had even iced it! So I rushed to get it done and she came back LATE!

AOh I love that pink! Might have to nip over to eBay and put a little discreet order in without the hubby knowing! Lol.

This is the pink I managed to get in the end, hope it works cos I'm on my phone!
