First of all, I live in north Texas and I am a home-based baker. I am thinking of doing an Easter special where I sell 6-inch round cakes, just doing 1 flavor but 4 different designs. They are relatively simple and I'm not sure if I will use fondant or just buttercream. I've already had some inquiries about getting them but I have no idea what to charge. It isn't as if I'll be turning on the oven for ONE 6-inch cake because I can bake multiple ones at a time. They will have easy fondant decorations, if not covered in fondant. Anyone have an idea what each should cost?

I would say $15 or $20 for buttercream and $25 or $35 for fondant decorations.

AHow much will the ingredients cost, and how long will each one take to make? How much is your annual overhead? Does your cake recipe freeze well, and do you have the available freezer space to store several 6" cakes?
