Hi there guys,

I am new to the cake decorating world, i have only ever made simple vanilla or choc cakes minus the decorations. I have tasked with making my younger sibling a birthday cake in a few weeks and have no idea how to make the hardish ediable decorations (ie: flowers, butterflys etc).

Does anyone have any good receipes for these?

Thanks so much :)

You would use fondant and gumpaste to make the decorations. I purchase mine from a cake supply store. Most craft stores carry some form of fondant and gumpaste.  Or, you can also make your own. I have heard that Michelle Fosters fondant recipe is wonderful. Add Tylose powder and that will make the fondant harden into stiff accents.

Once you have that done there are plenty of tutorials on Youtube on how to make the flowers and butterflies etc...

Good Luck!
