Quilting Fondant Without A Diamon D Tool Or Mat

I need to make a quilted fondant cake in a few days so cannot buy a diamond tool or quilting mat. Is there any other way to make nice looking quilting on a fondant cake?

AYou can try using your ruler to mark even spaces, then mark them with the side of your ruler diagonally without cutting into the fondant. Practice it on a small piece of fondant until you get the desired effect. Good luck.
