Hi all,

I just received vanilla beans from Beanilla and they are vacuum sealed. I am using 20-25 beans for extract and will have a few left over. What is the best way to store the remaining beans?

i wrapped mine like a mummy and stored them in an airtight container

i saw a suggestion to stick one in your car to make it smell good--thought that was kinda cool--

next time i get some i'll treat my car!! icon_biggrin.gif

Thank you K8memphis! I will be sure to do that. I love vanilla beans and I usually buy singles, so I'm not used to excess beans. The car idea sounds cool though. I would love it if my car smelled like real vanilla.

You mentioned you wrap yours, what do you wrap it in? Paper towel? Parchment paper?

Thanks again :)

Ah, I think I will have to find something else to store them in aide from plastic wrap. Mine came vacuum sealed, not in a vial or tube.

Seems to me that the obvious answer is to find some appropriately-sized glass vials whose caps form a hermetic (or at least, near-hermetic) seal. I recently purchased such a vial, myself at The Container Store, for a reason I'd be happy to discuss by PM (some people have gotten a bit squeamish about it, so I'll resist the temptation to discuss it on an open Board).

I have a Seal A Meal where I vacuum seal them again.

Thanks Renee. I have a vacuum seal machine. I used it last night on my leftover fondant. I should have thought about that for my beans. :)
