Can fondant decorations be put on Pastry Pride iced cakes?  OR do they melt? :(

I'm thinking of icing my  cake w/PP (or Frostin Pride) but want to decorate with fondant pieces.

Seems to me I've read people have had problems and I don't want that :)

I've never tried it, but here's a link to a helpful tips sheet:

http://www.doitwithicing.com/PASTRY_PRIDE_INSTRUCTIONS.pdf

At the very end, they say:

Quote:
NEVER PUT FONDANT ON PASTRY PRIDE – DOESN’T WORK WELL. Especially if you refrigerate
the cake the fondant will become slimy and slide off.

I'd love to hear if anyone else concurs!

AI read on the Bettercreme thread that people paint white chocolate on the fondant decorations to avoid intact with the cream. Bettercreme is same as Pastry pride. I thought that was a great idea!

Thank you gals for the info.  That's what I thought I'd read somewhere along the way :)  Might use the white choco idea.  The client wants PP instead of my usual b'cream for a Val Day cake.

AHelp am from California where Pastry Pride, Bettercreme & Frostin are readily available. However, am visiting Joplin, Missouri just over Arkansas. Where do I find any of these products. No Costco nearby.

**UPDATE**  Just thought others might be interested in how this worked out.

I did some fondant decos and was able to put them on the cake just about 1/2 hour before serving and they did just fine.  I didnot put any choco on the backs.  I'll be doing another cake the end of April that I'm thinking of putting fondant chicks (or a big whale) on and will back them w/choco just to be on the safe side.
