I have lost my cake extender recipe and do not remember all that was in it. I know to use the cake mix as is and make it according to the back of the box and I know that there is 1 c flour as well as 3/4 c sugar to be added. I think there was an extra egg or white if make white cake, some salt and baking powder. The item I think I have forgotten is the amount of extra water or oil, whichever it was.
Before the new updated CC I had a list of favorite recipes and can no longer figure out how to find them. If anyone can help with that I would also appreciate it. Thanks in advance for all help!!!!
Hello, Here are two that I have. I have tried the first one but have not tried the second one. The one with sour cream is very good!!! I saved this in my document folder but do not remember where on internet I got this. Hope this helps/Mary
Cake Mix extender number 1
- Prepare cake mix as per package directions. In addition to this add,
- 1 egg
- 1 cup flour
- 250 ml (or 8 oz.) sour cream or yogurt (I prefer to use low fat yogurt)
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/3 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla or other suited flavoring
Bake as per pkg. directions
Fat content will vary depending on whether or not you use full fat sour cream or yogurt. I’ve used them all including low fat sour cream, yogurt etc…. and the results are great each and every time.
Cake extender # 2
Mix all together.
Add to your already mixed cake mix batter.
Bake per directions but may need and additional 5-10 minutes longer to become done.
Thank you so much for the answer, sorry I did not get back to thank you quicker but was making scratch recipes. thanks again!!!
