Hi guys.
I'm not a baker but can cook and follow recipes fairly well. It's my dad 65th at the end of the month and he climbed Kilimanjaro for charity this time last year so would really like to make him a replica cake. Can anybody provide me with the information help me achieve this?
Many thanks,
Eddie
sure
here's two tutorials to explain structure issues and maybe put in a pathway
although i imagine the pathway he traversed was maybe a bit narrower
especially at the top--but shows you just how to stack and carve
http://cakecentral.com/a/how-to-carve-a-spiral-cake
use your imagination and put the doweling and boards in every 4-5 inches
cut all your dowels the same length and insert them straight up & down
that will get you started
how big do you want it
how realistic
print a picture and measure it and increase it to the size you want
(like double it or triple the dimensions that you measured)
use the print for a template
please let me/us know if you have more questions
your Dad is awesome! great birthday idea!
AThank you both very much, I'm going to have a practice run before the big day!
It's his charity that he did the climb for so thanks for the kind comments. Have a look at www.dorothyswell.org if your interested! I will post a pic for you guys of the cake once I've had a go at making it.
Take care for now :)
