I've had a request for a cake for a lady I have known all of my life.  Her daughter asked for a cake to include gospel music and soul food in the design.  The soul food part has me completely stumped.  Any ideas?

How are you going to work in the gospel music? If I get a vision of that I can try to think of how to apply soul food.

I get requests like this all the time. My last one wanted an army helicopter, grapes, breast cancer awareness, daisies, gold rings, and hearts. icon_eek.gif

I'm learning to weave together some odd things, hopefully I can help ...

ATo me, soul food is like greens, fried chicken, potato salad, and red beans and rice. Jambalaya I guess. Yummy....

I was thinking about a two tiered cake with piano keys around the bottom tier and fondant music notes on it randomly.

i thought of a big well well used pot cooking (as if it were on a stove bubbling with beans or greens) with music notes floating up out of it

two tiers

all sitting on a thin black skillet pan of crispy cornbread

mmm smells good already

the pot out of three layers of six inch cake

and the skillet a one layer 12 inch

give or take

or use a cupcake and a little circle of cake

or make them all out of modeling chocolate & place on regular cake
