ASo am making a swan cake for a wedding happening tomoro. Made swan head and neck from RKT. Cake is fruit cake. I stuck the neck to cake with toothpicks and royal icing on Tuesday. Yesterday I decided to perfect the head as it looked like that of a stock. It moved a bit whilst I carved. When done I shifted it slightly as it looked bent. The RKTs r not completey dry yet. Its rainy season here and today its cloudy. May rain anytime. I also applied more RI. This morning I checked and the head had fallen off. I tried to fix it by covering the hole created in the cake and putting more RI. 2 hrs later it has fallen off. Is there anything that dries hard and fast I can glue with? The RKT neck has cracked a bit. Wedding is tomoro 9am. Setup 7am. Now its 1053h. Help please!
ADid u try stacking the neck with a taller stick than toothpick? And stack it until the end digs into the cake board. And to be more safe u can stick with edible glue
I always find that melted chocolate dries quick maybe try that?
AThe neck sticks to the cake side not top. Will try chocolate, but wat if tomoro its hot? Wont the chocolate melt?
If you have enough time, you might try using chocolate clay with a heavy gauge wire for support. good luck.
So I had to redo the heads and necks. Made them thinner and shorter. Slept at 4am. My cake is here:
It worked for the better because when assembled, that original head was too thick and long. Took Manoleta's advice as well and used longer sticks. The heads were not as smooth as intended but hey, I was so relieved I presented what the bride expected. Thanx so much yáll.
Can u see the attachment? Wanted to show you the difference between the original head and the redone one. When I click on it its taking me to my desktop.
You can see the difference between the original and redone in the attachment above.
Your cake is really nice. I'm so glad everything worked out.
