I am going to be making a two-tiered baby shower cake. Since I am brand-new at this...which would be easier, covering the cakes in buttercream or fondant? How do you stack a two-tiered cake covered in buttercream without messing any of the buttercream up? Thanks all!

Oh and do you put a cakeboard underneat the top tier or do you just put the cake on by itself and then a center dowel?
