A

Hello, I'm a newbie here!  I am wanting to make some homemade sprinkles to tell at the farmers market without using fondant and actual egg whites.  I have tried one recipe that I've found online, and it didn't workout the way I had hoped.  Any recipes for me to try?  I found this one http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-sprinkles-for-cupc-138957, but I know I can't buy Just Egg Whites around here; however, I know I can buy meringue powder.  If I substituted Just Egg Whites for miringue powder, how much meringue powder woul I use?  Thank you.

AThe blog says she modified the original recipe to use carton whites instead of regular ones... so why don't you just use regular egg whites?

Here's the link to the original from the blog

Meringue Powder contains more than just egg white - mostly added gums/starches

It is OK to substitute in some things but I;m thinking with Royal Icing - it might not set firm enough (you may have to do some prior testing)  for sprinkles

Kory, thanks for the link, it was helpful for me, too. How cool would it be to say, "Yeah, i made my own sprinkles - from scratch." lol :)
