Hi all. I am doing cupcake toppers for a friend. She has a logo for her daughter that will be hot pink and silver and she wants the toppers to be edible images of this logo. I have no idea if silver is possible on an edible image printer. Is it? If not, can I paint silver luster dust onto the image? any help would be great!
Hello, I had this in my word document but I have never personally tried doing this. I do know of people who have tried it and it worked great. Not sure if this will help but here it is below.
How to pipe in gold color
I found this a while ago, don't remember where but I saved it and never tried it.
"saw a few posts asking how to make gold and silver for piping.....found this recipe and thought I would share it:
2 ts. Powdered sugar
2 ts. gold silver or metallic dusting powder
1 ts. piping gel
On a small ceramic plate, mix sugar and dusting powder. Add a few drops of clear alcohol (gin or vodka is suggested) and mix with a small palette knife to create a stiff paste
Add the piping gel, a little at a time, mixing well until the consistency for piping in reached. Use a very small piping bag and tip as needed. The leftovers can be put into a small container and stored in the refrigerator. It will keep indefinitely YOU NEED 4 GRAMS FOR THIS ! PLUS YOU CAN ADD MORE POWDER SUGAR , YOU WILL LOVE IT !
Print the image. It will be a grayish silvery color. You can apply luster dust but DO NOT paint it until it is on whatever you are using. If you try to paint on the image, it will dissolve. If you are putting it on a piece of gumpaste or fondant, first apply then paint.
thanks so much for the reply. i will try that!
