...out of fondant?

I have a ruffle cutter, is this as simple as flattening out the ruffles and then attaching to the cake?  Ruffles made out of 50/50 gumpaste and fondant?

These are NOT made with a circle (Garrett) ruffle cutter.

These ruffles are straight strips of paste with the edges slightly softened with a ball tool.  You can make them any length that is easy to handle, the longer the faster they are to stick on.

Okay.

Do I dry them a little bit before I put them on?

You don't dry straight strips at all because they will crack.

You have to put them on as soon as they have been rolled and edged.
