Hi  i am baking a 1/2 chocolate 1/2 white sheet cake. I noticed the vanilla side gets done before the chocolate side. what can i do without burning the done side?

Can you bake them separate then put them side by side and join with some icing?

When I use the magic cake strips, the white side does NOT burn.  The strips insulate well enough, and the cake is flat as well.
