A customer asked me for a price for this cake. Just trying to figure out where and how many little bottles of sugar pearls I would need to make this cake. I saw that they usually come in 2oz bottles. What do you all think? I don't want to cheat myself.

Hi,

Thats alot of sugar pearls, somewhere in the hundreds. I think you should look into buying them in bulk, if you can.

Aw geez - I'd say thousands.

Charge extra for all that tweezer work!

I was asked to make that cake as well. Good ol' Pinterest. I'm kinda nervous about getting them all to stay put properly. Guess that's what I get for making a darn wedding cake for a friend (who begged and begged and begged after I said no at least a million times, lol).

Not all of them are sugar pearls...not that you're not going to need a ton...but it looks like there are buttercream dots on there as well. You can luster dust those and they'll blend in nicely. Might help you from going blind...or crazy...or both! icon_lol.gif

Actually the more I look at it closely the more I see buttercream dots as opposed to sugar pearls now. Sure would be a lot easier to pearl dust crusted BC dots en masse than apply 10,000 individual pearls with tweezers!

Good eye, Carmijok! Yes, it looks like just dots of icing!

If you're going to pipe I'd use royal. Dries harder and luster looks better on royal.
