Where can I buy glass blocks to make a cake stand? Any directions on how to add lights inside the stand.
Regular glass blocks you can get at any big box hardware store. The ones that are pre-cut with holes for lights are found at any big box craft store.
You can buy the pre-drilled ones at Michaels. Home Depot did at one point sell them in store, but they were talking about just selling them as a special order item. If they still have them, you can drill them yourself with a drill bit made to drill into glass. Just any bit won't do. It also takes a while to drill into...it's not like drilling into a piece of wood.
Skip the drill, just go to Save-on-crafts.com and get a package of Fairy Berries. They're a riot and come in lots of colors. I buy the white. Warning, they're LED and are very bright so you may need to pack each cube with clear Easter basket grass if you need a softer light. But they're the size of a large marble, are round, you open them up and pull the plastic tab to activate them then screw the top back on and you have a light source that will last 6 to 8 hours at least. They're fun to place under fabric on a cake table. Oh and they very slowly go on and off ..............very slowly.
