Cricut Cake Machine

So i bought a cricut cake machine today. So does anyone have one of these and have any advice on a better outcome for the small decor cut outs? And any advice on using this machine at all would be very much apriciated.

use a 50/50 mix of fondant and gumpaste. Roll it out very thin and let it air dry about 5 min or so. That should make the small cutouts. If it doesn't use all gumpaste . But I use the 50/50 mix .I only have 4 cartridges and still learning myself. I did find that the wilton sugar sheets were a waste of time and money. what every you mess up has to be thrown away, where as the 50/50 mix you can re-roll and try again. The wilton sheets I got were very dry and just tore. Let me know if you have any other questions that I might be able to help with.

Thank you. I discovered the sugat sheet today and you are right i threw most of it away. I used my gum paste fondant mix and it worked pretty good for large cut outs. But small cut outs glumped up. I guess it just takes practice.i will be sending you pms for advice.

make sure and put a light coating of crisco on your mat before laying down your mix. Your mix needs to so thin you can almost see the marking from the mat threw it.

I am in the same boat! I bought a cricut cake this summer and have been experimenting. Freeze your mats for 10 minutes, up to 20 if its a really intricate cut. Cut your decorations as quickly as possible after pulling them out of the fridge. I left a few of my mats in to long once and found out that you can freeze them too long, so its tricky. I just put mine in the fridge for about 5 minutes, that way they got a little softer, but not too soft. Also, med to high pressure at med speed. Clean your rollers out as you go. ROLL YOUR FONDANT STRAIGHT ONTO THE MAT. That is super important, thin layer of crisco, then roll the fondant and trim to the size of the mat. Sorry this is long, but I figure to much is better than to little. It took me days to figure this out lol. Hope it helps.
