I have a small cake business (home -- approved in canada) and I have just been offered a job as a Wilton instructor at a local store. Financially it seems ok, I can do one or two mid-week classes that will be the equivalent in time and income to two good sized cake orders per month.
I am excited but cautious. Any tips? Advice? I am Wilton trained and I like that they offer merchandise and training to go along with the job. Is it worth it?
I was a Wilton Instructor for a couple of years. It was great. I really loved at the instructor classes, you got to see all the new products and get them as well! Plus I always was getting Wilton Cash and with my discount from them for being a instructor, I got to order tons of stuff for free.
thats great that wilton has contacted you. It means there is a vacancy in the area for a WMI that needs to be filled. Im not sure how the accounts (stores holding the classes) are set in Canada, but you may find that the store you are assigned to will or will not require extra demos and monthly project classes. Its hard to say until you know which store you will be at. Some stores pay the WMI to do this and others do not. All in all teaching wilton classes is alot of fun. Wilton does not certify anyone so you cannot say that or that you are wilton trained. Once you become a WMI then you will get to attend a training session once a year. If you get assigned a store and recieve your new instructor package message me and i will get you on the wmi only message board. Good luck.
