Im new to the cake world and needed a metallic silver, I bought luster dust in hopes it would do the trick. Not only was it not shiny, but it had a sandy look to it.... What am I doing wrong?

What did you put it on? Luster dust is for brushing onto humid/dry gumpaste/fondant.

Mix it with vodka or lemon/almond extract to paint it onto dried icings.

Or buy the spray metallic silver from Wilton.

I ended up using the spray. Only thing I can think of is I had too much on the fondant?!?

Possibly too much crisco used when kneading/rolling the fondant...try to use icing sugar when possible.
