I need to do a wedding cake for October and the customer want gold swirls on the cake she gave a picture of the cake. Question is, should I cooler the buttercream icing in gold or use royal icing and color it gold? If I used the royal icing how far in advanced should I put the swirls on the cake or buttercream. I would do the swirls in RI, let dry and then paint the swirls in gold lustre.I don't think you can get a true gold (with a shine too) in the actual icing.... I would do the swirls in a cream or ivory colour then paint. Good luck!
Yes,swirls can b done in cream n then painted over with gold. Av done dis b4,came out great. All d best
